Community Input Meetings (CIM)


Community Input Meetings are intended to provide an open dialogue between representatives of a proposed project (e.g. developers, engineers, landowners) and residents or other community members of the surrounding area regarding the proposed development.  Community Input Meetings are the sole responsibility of the property owner or developer. 

What projects require a CIM?

Community Input Meetings are required for any proposed development expected to generate 250 or more automobile trips per day as determined by the Institute of Transportation Engineers’ Trip Generation Manual.  A CIM is also required for those projects considered a non-transient non-community (NTNC) water systems.  NTNC systems are public systems that do not serve the community at large; these may include hospitals, schools, manufacturing facilities, office buildings, or other uses. 

Where & When to Hold Community Input Meetings

Meetings must be held near the site of the proposed development. The meeting shall be scheduled to start between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on weekday evenings, or between 9:00 a.m. and 5 p.m. on a Saturday. The meeting shall not be scheduled within five (5) calendar days before or after a federal holiday.


Notification & Posting

At least two weeks prior to a CIM, subject properties are posted with a BLACK notice stating the date, time and location of the meeting.  Meetings notices are also published in at least two local publications prior to the CIM meeting.  Adjoining property owners receive notice via Certified Mail.
